What people say

What participants say about the Showcase module

Want to know what to expect before you access the free Showcase module? Here are some of the things learning practitioners valued about the content, practical activities and accessible learning experience.

“I thought the practical examples, with videos and exercises to test your knowledge, were particularly useful. I think the knowledge checks were some of the most useful ones I have seen in an eLearning module. It was very upfront and descriptive about what considerations were made to make it accessible.”

“The sequencing of the content is excellent! I love that you asked questions and THEN followed up with supporting information. It’s one of those little things that, as an Instructional Designer myself, I really appreciate. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and care is going into this, and that speaks volumes.”

“Overall it was an excellent Showcase module and I’ve taken away several key things I can put into practice right away. I can’t wait to do the full DALC Programme.”

“I really enjoyed that the module had a specific focus on accessibility for learning content, with really clear links to WCAG. This is not something that I’ve managed to find before. I love how the content relates to industry-standard authoring tools to enable you to put the things you learn into practice straight away.”

“What I really enjoyed and found useful about this module was the fact that you were constantly learning by example. Regardless of what the content was, you learned HOW simply through how the module was built. I thought this was very clever!"

"The simple fact that you have created accessible eLearning about accessible eLearning makes the eLearning twice as useful. I have the CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) certification and I still learned new info!”

Industry impact

Setting a new standard for accessible learning

The Showcase module began as an ambitious part of the DALC Programme development process. We opened up the learning to practitioners and people with disabilities and access needs, inviting them to test our thinking, challenge the design and help demonstrate what accessible digital learning could achieve.

Opening up the development process

We released an early version of the Showcase module while the DALC Programme was still being developed. This gave learning practitioners the opportunity to explore the content, try the activities and tell us what worked and what could be improved.

Shaped by practitioner and lived-experience feedback

The wider research involved more than 500 participants, with over 120 learning practitioners and disabled people contributing detailed feedback. Their experiences helped us refine the content, activities, accessibility features and overall learning experience.

Challenging assumptions about accessible eLearning

A key aim was to show that accessibility could support creativity, interactivity and better learning design. Participants described themselves as “constantly learning by example”, praised the practical activities and knowledge checks, and highlighted how accessibility had been built into the learning itself.

Evidence that helped shape the DALC Programme

The response gave us powerful evidence that the concept was working, with 98% of respondents satisfied or very satisfied with their learning experience. That feedback helped shape the DALC Programme that went on to achieve recognition through three major international awards.
