eLearning accessibility

Meet eLaHub

We help organisations deliver accessible and inclusive learning that drives performance and works for every learner. Our training, accessibility auditing, consultancy and advocacy provide practical support to make accessibility part of everyday learning practice and create excellent learning experiences for everyone.

Accessibility capability

The eLaHub story and what we bring

eLaHub was founded in 2019 to help make accessible and inclusive learning the default. The name, pronounced ‘Ella Hub’, was inspired by Susi Miller’s daughters, Isab’elle’ and Frey’a’, and by seeing first-hand the barriers they encountered as neurodivergent learners.

That experience helped shape the purpose of eLaHub. Accessibility standards are essential, but L&D teams also need practical support to apply them within real authoring tools, existing content, project timescales and organisational constraints.

Since 2019, we have worked with more than 150 organisations across a wide range of sectors. We have also spent hundreds of hours auditing and testing real learning content, giving us direct insight into the barriers learners continue to encounter and the changes that can make the greatest difference.

Our work brings together accessibility expertise and extensive Learning and Development experience. Through training, accessibility auditing, consultancy and advocacy, we translate technical requirements into practical guidance that organisations can apply to their own learning.

More than 1,600 practitioners have now taken part in eLaHub training and development. We also share what we learn through our resources, publications, speaking and advocacy work, helping to make accessible learning part of everyday L&D practice.

Our work has been recognised through major international awards for accessibility, learning design and professional practice, including recognition for our flagship Designing Accessible Learning Content Programme.

Accessibility practice

How we make accessibility work in practice

Accessibility has to work within the tools, content and processes learning teams use every day. Our approach combines specialist accessibility expertise with decades of Learning and Development experience, helping organisations make practical improvements and build accessibility into the way learning is designed and developed.

Evidence-led

Our guidance combines accessibility standards and testing with what we learn through working with learning content across different organisations, sectors and technologies.

Practical and achievable

We translate accessibility requirements into clear actions that teams can apply to their existing content, tools, templates and ways of working.

Learner-first

We focus on how people with different access needs use and experience learning content, drawing on testing, lived experience and feedback to inform our work.

Inclusive by design

We help teams consider accessibility from the start, making informed choices about structure, language, interactions and media before barriers become built into the content.

Building capability

We work alongside teams to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need to make accessibility part of their own day-to-day practice.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility develops alongside content, technology, standards and learner needs. We help organisations review what they are doing, identify priorities and continue making progress over time.
