The DALC Programme has been central to this recognition, confirming our belief that accessibility is fundamental to excellent learning design and to creating effective learning experiences for every learner.
Accessibility at the heart of excellent learning
At eLaHub, we knew from the outset that accessibility played a fundamental role in creating learning that worked effectively for every learner. We understood how becoming more aware of people’s access needs, preferences and circumstances challenged the way we had always designed learning. It made us question our assumptions, think more creatively and find more innovative solutions that better supported our learning objectives. We could clearly see the improvements this made, both in our practice and in the learning we designed and delivered.
That belief was reinforced as our experience working directly with clients grew. We saw it in our consultancy work and in the learning content delegates designed after our accessibility training. Our audit work showed the same thing. When teams made the changes we recommended, their learning content improved immeasurably. But we were still working in an industry that hadn’t changed its opinion about accessibility in learning for years. It was still seen as something that stripped out content and interactivity, and limited creativity and innovation.
That’s what inspired us to create the DALC Programme. We wanted to challenge that misconception with evidence the wider industry would recognise. We deliberately built the programme using a popular authoring tool, working within the same constraints learning teams face every day. When it was finished, we realised we had created something tangible that showed how accessibility could lead to an excellent learning experience for every learner. So we made a deliberate decision to enter the DALC Programme into the learning industry’s most prestigious awards to prove that accessibility really is at the heart of learning excellence.
Learning Professional of the Year
Susi Miller was awarded Gold for Learning Professional of the Year at the Learning Performance Institute’s 2025 Learning Awards, one of the learning industry’s most established and high-profile awards. The award recognised Susi’s work through eLaHub and the DALC Programme to advance accessibility across learning and development.
- The Learning Awards are run by the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI), the professional body for workplace learning. The 2025 ceremony marked the 29th year of the awards.
- The 2025 awards attracted a record number of entries from 56 countries, with more than 800 international L&D professionals attending the awards ceremony in London.
- Learning Professional of the Year recognises exceptional professional practice, innovation, subject expertise, client endorsement and the ability to meet business needs.
- The DALC Programme played a central role in Susi’s award, recognising the wider impact of her work in opening up access to learning and raising professional standards by giving learning professionals a recognised pathway to develop and demonstrate their capability in accessible learning.
Excellence in the Design of Learning Content
eLaHub’s DALC Programme won Silver for Excellence in the Design of Learning Content in the International Commercial Sector in the 2025 Learning Technologies Awards. The award recognised both the programme’s excellent learning design and how effectively it addressed a clear learning and performance need.
- The Learning Technologies Awards attracted more than 400 entries from over 30 countries in 2025 and was judged by 64 independent industry judges.
- The international commercial category placed the DALC Programme alongside technology-based learning content created for commercial organisations around the world.
- Entries were judged on evidence-based learning design, effective use of content and interactivity, alignment with performance needs, and positive learner and stakeholder response.
- The judges “loved this programme that supports learning designers worldwide in designing more accessible content” and praised its thoughtful design, learner experience and commitment to continuous improvement.
Best Training Program for Global Accessibility Standards
eLaHub won Gold for Best Training Program for Global Accessibility Standards for the DALC Programme in the 2025 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards. The award recognised the programme’s design, innovation, impact and measurable results.
- Brandon Hall Group has recognised excellence in organisations worldwide for more than 30 years - its HCM Excellence Awards are known as the 'Academy Awards of Human Capital Management'.
- Entries are assessed by an international panel of independent senior industry experts and practitioners, alongside Brandon Hall Group analysts and executive leadership.
- The DALC Programme was evaluated against criteria including alignment to business need, programme design and delivery, user experience, innovation and creativity, effectiveness, impact and measurable benefits.
- Winning Gold for Best Training Program for Global Accessibility Standards gave the DALC Programme international recognition for showing how accessibility standards can be translated into effective learning practice.

Setting a new benchmark for accessible learning
Our industry awards and the feedback we receive from practitioners give us clear evidence that accessible learning is fundamental to excellent learning design. But that message is still far from mainstream across L&D. That’s why, for the past eight years, we have been pushing for accessibility to be recognised more clearly by the major learning awards.
In 2026, we were incredibly proud to be instrumental in introducing a new category in the Learning Technologies Awards. The Excellence in Accessible and Inclusive Digital Learning category creates a prestigious industry benchmark and encourages organisations to build accessibility, inclusion and evidence of impact into learning projects from the outset.
A long-standing ambition
In 2019, our work with the University of Southampton was shortlisted at the Learning Technologies Awards for Best Not-for-Profit and Public Sector Project. Accessibility and its contribution to excellent learning design were central to the case we put before the judges, beginning a much longer effort to gain wider industry recognition for accessible learning.
Helping shape the award criteria
Due to her expertise in accessibility training, consultancy and auditing, Susi was invited to join the team developing the new award. She helped shape the criteria used to define what excellent accessible and inclusive digital learning should demonstrate.
A dedicated award for accessible learning
The new 2026 category recognises learning that combines excellent design with recognised accessibility standards, consideration of different access needs and the perspectives of disabled people, alongside clear evidence of organisational impact.
From advocacy to industry benchmark
The new category gives learning teams a public benchmark against which they can assess their own work and encourages accessibility and inclusion to be built into projects from the outset. Susi is also joining the judging panel, helping recognise organisations that are putting these principles into practice.
